If you live in an area where freezing temperatures and icy roads are common in winter, you owe it to yourself and your clients to ensure your car is prepared to handle the conditions.
Keep your car battery cranking.
You’re not going anywhere if your car won’t start. If your battery is more than three years old, have it tested at a garage or repair center that you trust. You should also check your battery cables for cracks and make sure that the posts are clean and free of corrosion.
Stay in control with snow tires.
Icy, slippery roads are one of the main causes of accidents in the winter. Make sure your car is equipped with snow or all-season tires so you can get a better grip on the road when heading to your listings. Plus, don’t forget to keep your tires inflated to the proper level to maximize traction.
Check your oil.
Oil tends to thicken when the temperature drops outside. Some older cars require oil with a thinner viscosity in the winter to properly lubricate the engine. To make sure yours is correct, check your owner’s manual.
Don’t get locked out.
It can be frustrating if your car door locks freeze and you’re caught out in the cold with a client. Pick up a tube of lock deicer and keep it handy so you can get the doors open when the temperature plummets.
