Once you have purchased an American Home Shield Home Protection Plan, we'll send your contract package with detailed information about your plan. The rest is easy.
- Call When an item breaks down, first verify that it is covered under your home protection plan. Review the exclusions, limitation and 'not covered' section of your contract to be sure. If it looks like your item is covered, call our 24/7 customer service line toll-free at 800 776 4663 or visit ahs.com to place a service request.
- Schedule An American Home Shield representative will quickly assign a qualified service contractor to handle your covered request. If you have an email address on file with us, you will receive an email confirming the item in need of repair and the name and contact information of the assigned service contractor. The service contractor will contact you by phone to schedule a time that works best for you during normal business hours.
- Pay Upon arrival, the service contractor will collect a Trade Service Call Fee (based on your contracted amount). This is a fee paid per service trade-plumber, electrician, etc.-not per visit or per contractor. There is a chance that additional costs will be associated with your repair or replacement. For example, if there are components that are not covered by your home protection plan, these will be charged to you directly.
- Relax Once we confirm that your problem is covered by your home protection plan, rest easy. The contractor will repair the covered item if possible, or replace if necessary. Sometimes parts have to be ordered, but your service contractor will schedule a time to come back and complete the repair or replacement. American Home Shield may follow up with you by phone or email to hear about your experience. At American Home Shield, we take great pride in finding the qualified service contractor to help you. Service requests are unlimited during your contract term.
